This Henri Matisse rare vintage 1958 Mid Century Modern Italian fine art lithograph print " The Dream ( Le Reve ) " 1940, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The Mid Century Modern lithograph print is printed in Italy in 1958 in an unnumbered limited edition by The Hyperion Press Milan, as part of an Italian portfolio of Matisse lithograph prints titled " Matisse : Gallery of Art Series ".
The vintage lithograph print features an artwork image originally created by Matisse in 1940 titled " The Dream " ( Le Reve ).
Henri Matisse ( 1869 - 1954 ) the French born artist is known for both his sense of color and fluid aesthetic. Matisse is commonly regarded, along with Picasso as one of the most important artists who helped to define and influence radical Contemporary Art of The Twentieth Century. His mastery of the expressive language of color and drawing won him recognition as a leading figure in world Modern Art. Artworks by Matisse are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
The lithograph print plate image measures 7 1/4" W X 9 1/4" H, on a page that is 9 5/8" W X 13" H. The print is attached to the page with a method called " tipping " where it is attached by hand on the left side edge. There is unrelated text on the reverse back side of the page that refers to a different artwork image from the portfolio.
The rare out of print fine art lithograph print is in excellent clean vintage condition consistent with age and light signs of handling to the page backing. It has never been framed. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price.
