Painstakenly decorated with inlaid camel’s bone, silver alloy, and brass embellishments. At 18” it is substantial.

Kasriya bowls are a traditional part of group dining in Morocco. These large shallow bowls with flat bottoms and angles sides are used to serve quantities of cous cous. Often these are plain wood in this traditonal shape or in ceramic.

But this highly decorative piece was most likely developed for the luxury international travel set of the early 20th century on their Grand Tour or living as expats in Casablanca. Early 20th century Morocco became a premier destination. And exotic luxury goods were created to serve this burgeoning tourist community.

The beautiful patina shows it’s age. The metals could also be polished for a dramatic newer look. The deep rich brown wood is stunning. less
