This gorgeous … more I don't often come across antique Oak splint baskets, and certainly not one as large as this one! This gorgeous early 20th century Oak splint buttocks basket is perfectly sized for display atop (or under) an armoire or other furniture piece. It would also look beautiful hung or as a vessel to display dried flowers, lightweight throw blankets, etc. This is an older working basket, so not surprisingly it does have a few minor breaks (see photos). However, it remains structurally sound and sturdy.

Given its age, I recommend you use this basket primarily as a display piece. It does lean a bit to one side, as if to show off its wares! This does not detract from the overall look of this basket and (if desired) can be corrected with a stand or propping. Wonderful texture on this basket, and it has a rich, warm patina that only comes with age. less
