* peter zimmermann was born in freiburg im breisgau in 1956. He studied at the state academy of fine arts in stuttgart from 1979 to 1984. Since 1984 he has lived and worked in cologne, where he has held a professorship at the academy of media arts since 2007.
* he became known for his diverse works as a painter, sculptor and object artist. Since the end of the 1980s, he has been creating his "book cover paintings", in which, among other things, he has painted the titles of travel guides on canvas.
