Shelves are covered with white Vitrolite glass panels. Fair original condition. Paul McCobb (1917-1969) was an American furniture and industrial designer who gained prominence in the mid-20th century. McCobb's career took off in the 1950s when he gained recognition for his furniture designs, particularly for his streamlined and practical approach. His designs often featured sleek, minimalist forms, and he was adept at working with various materials, including wood, metal, and upholstery. One of McCobb's most notable furniture collections was the Planner Group, introduced in 1949. This collection, made primarily of maple wood, featured modular storage units, desks, tables, and seating, all characterized by their functional design and clean aesthetics. The Planner Group became highly popular and contributed to McCobb's reputation as a leading designer of his time. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
