Early 20th century Red Wing stoneware crock with 6" wing stamp with wire and wood handles. Also stamped 1915, the year the wire/wood handles were patented. Originally for sauerkraut and other fermentations for the preservation of foods of the early 20th century before refrigeration was widespread. Today these crocks are prized as decorative items with authentic providance from Red Wing Minnesota, made from local red clay and silica quartz with a salt glaze.
