This is a rare stunning Broken Arch Pediment Bonnet Top Cabinet with glass shelving by famed John Widdicomb maintaining its gorgeous original gilded, antiqued washed & speckled finish accented with hand-painted and raised relief hand-carvings. It is in exceptional condition.
The top piece boasts an exaggerated scalloped crest with a center finial that surmounts two doors covered by an intricately woven metal wire screen embellished with geometric four leaf quatrefoil accents and glass shelving on the interior. The lower portion of the cabinet is raised on pagoda feet comprised of two small cabinet doors that open to reveal a compartment measuring 36"w x 11.5"d x 14"h.
All of the doors are accented with ornate antique brass hardware that closes securely with interior magnets. The cabinet has two bulbs on the underside of the top and a line switch that extends out from the back, so that the interior can be illuminated to showcase crystal barware, china, a collection of valuable treasures, books or your favorite objects d'art.
This piece is breathtaking and must be seen to appreciated. A true piece of Widdicomb history, Circa 1960's.
The finished is best represented in the close up photographs. Color may vary due to lighting and computer monitors.
