Vintage Signed Tessellation Screenprint Titled "Probability" by Arnold Hoffmann Jr, Circa 1970s. A graphic assemblage of triangular forms in vibrant tomato red, sapphire, kelly green and navy. Titled in the lower left, “Probability,” and numbered 26 in an edition of 120. Pencil signed by the artist in the lower right. Framed in a light gold-tone metal frame with a four-layer mat.
Arnold Hoffmann Jr. (New York, 1915 - Springs, Long Island, 1991) was a twentieth century painter, silkscreen artist and master printer. He studied at the Art Students League and the National Academy of the Arts. Throughout his career, he primarily exhibited his works at galleries in New York. In 1942, Hoffmann joined the staff of The New York Times Magazine. He remained with them for the next thirty years, becoming its art director. Upon his retirement in 1972 he founded the Screen Print Workshop in East Hampton where he worked and also held public lectures. It was here that he worked with such artists as James Brooks, Esteban Vicente and Robert Gwathmey.
