Description: A very unique small chest of drawers, hand-carved in the Netherlands, circa 1780, the wood has been whitewashed at some … more A very unique small chest of drawers, hand-carved in the Netherlands, circa 1780, the wood has been whitewashed at some point over the last 250 years, resulting in an ashen white color with hints of cream and beige. The shapely commode has a bombe front comprised of three tiers of drawers and curvaceous front legs that extend well beyond the rectilinear sides.

Two small iron pulls grace the front of each drawer, with the middle drawer being constructed in a concave manner, as opposed to the other two which slope outwards. The top has a thin recessed quarter-round edge and a double arbalete front, both of which hang over the main body by quite a bit. An ogee bracket comprises each of the two back feet, while the front pair are robust paw feet flanking a highly sinuous apron.

The color and shape of our Dutch bombe commode allow it to mesh quite well with numerous interior design styles. It can be placed in any bedroom as a one-of-a-kind and graceful storage piece. less
