Shakyamuni with the hand turned inward is touching the earth. Amitabha is shown with the hand turned outward to offer bounty and blessing to the world. Both are lost wax cast in two parts, the upper body and the lotus base joined together. The style of the figure is 17th century with the long narrow lotus petals and the tall-waisted figures, Both have the same noble facial features, refined eyes, and full lips in a slight smile. Broad rounded shoulders and long articulated feet, note the joints in the toes and fingers. Excellent quality, with a natural dark patina of brassy-bronze. Open bottoms.
