Fu Dogs/Guardians, with beautiful polychrome glaze consisting primarily of blue, green, plum and brown. Note the brown glaze toward the base is particularly iridescent. The faces and hair tendrils on this pair are wonderful (so often you see them partially broken or repaired when they are this old). Both the baby and ball are also present, separately near the feet on the base of each statue. I am addicted to fu dogs and buy them whenever I can find interesting pairs—this pair is particularly unique because of the beautiful multi layered glaze and also because they are in such great shape with no evidence of any repairs. These will have a commanding and auspicious presence wherever they are placed—a mantle, a curio or furniture centerpiece, a window sill or even on an altar table—they are very, very special! See less
