This striking large folk art figural sculpture by artist Floyd Shaman is titled CLEO. Made of carved laminated wood that has been shaped and painted, this amazing figure sits in an antique chair altered to accommodate her size. Her face is exquisitely painted and features glass eyes and braided hair of wood. This piece came from a large private art collection located in Dallas, Texas.
Floyd Shaman (1936-2005) was a Mississippi Delta artist, well known for his humorous yet finely crafted figural sculptures. Shaman taught art at the Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi. He left academia around 1980 to become a full time sculptor. His artwork can be found in private and corporate collection as well as museums. C4270 less
