A vintage black lacquered jewelry chest in the shape of a Japanese pagoda. The doors and lower drawer have Japanese themed art hand painted in red and gold colors. Little flecks pf mother-of-pearl are inlaid all around the front edges. The box has 5 drawers . . . each lined with red velvet. 3 drawers are behind the cabinet doors that open in the center of the box.
This box was probably made in the 1970's when Japanese pieces were having a big moment in popular decor. The box is well constructed, functions well and is very attractive. It doesn't appear to have been used hard, but there are signs consistent with its age in a few areas.
Measures: 8.5" high / 6.5" wide / 4 inches deep
