Shiwan Kiln in Foshan Guangdon Province is well known for their interesting glazes. This type of large ceramic pedestal is rare. Probably it was made to support a jardiniere. It was an artistic presentation made by a potter and a carver of ceramics who used this as a canvas to present a landscape complete with mountains. flowering trees and more. It is hard to tell under the heavy mottled glaze. Plum blossoms on a branch are quite noticeable under the circular top. Early 20 century or earlier. The stand has a base of 15 inches in diameter and 26 inches high.
