Gemma Fane Taccogna … more Mid-Century Capistrano Mexican Folk Art Paper Mache Head / Bust Pincushion in the Style of Gemma Taccogna. Gemma Fane Taccogna (1923-2007) was an Italian-American and Mexican artist. She innovated the design and production technique of papier-mâché. This may actually be one of her pieces but it is only handsigned "Capistrano Mexico". That is why it is described as "in the style of" Gemma Taccogna.

A rare find from a mid-century estate. This lovely head/bust pincushion is a perfect example of Mexican folk art from the mid-century. The top of the head is a working pin cushion made of worn velvet. Please see my other listings for the companion head/bust sold separately. less
