- An early 20th century deep red Flamminian ware art pottery wall charger, alms dish or plaque designed by William Moorcroft … more An early 20th century deep red Flamminian ware art pottery wall charger, alms dish or plaque designed by William Moorcroft (1872-1945) for retail by Liberty and Co. of London. The design for the Art Nouveau circular charger was registered in England in 1905 at the mid point of the Edwardian Period and features a broad rim, three decorative tube lined leaf and berry roundels, and a domed/convex central well. The foot rim is pierced in three places for hanging so the charger can be displayed on a wall as a plaque. The base bears an underglaze W Moorcroft signature, a printed English Registry Number (Rd. No. 452777 registered in 1905) over a MADE FOR / LIBERTY & CO printed mark in green. The antique art pottery charger—sometimes called an alms dish— is in good condition with a a few small nicks, scuffs, and scratches, measuring 10.25 in. diameter x 1.38 in. height. less
