This expressive painting has a vibrant contemporary style. It's rich, bold shapes and a fresh medley of colors convey the beauty in simple objects. I was drawn to the wonderful sense of patterning that came about as I put the arrangement together. In the process I began to feel a sense of celebration which I wanted to infuse into the painting through the fruits and wares as well as the various fabrics.
The unique motifs in the fabric brought a lot of contrast into the arrangement. Moving from stripes to shapes that were more floral on the table was a risk but one that worked well over all as the painting began to unfold.
The painting is full of cheerful energy. It's refreshing character is bolstered by thoughtful yet lively brushwork and a palette of striking colors that aim to highlight the beauty of things as I experience them.
Painted on a gallery wrapped canvas, this is a signed original oil painting that can be hung or in the context of a frame. The sides of the canvas are painted for a finished look. less
