How much better does it get than this exquisitely designed and crafted floor lamp?

I think it’s a fair assertion that, though unmarked, it’s by the esteemed Rembrandt lamp company, although it’s possibly even beyond their elevated product. There were companies in New York, for instance, which produced truly amazing floor lamps. It’s been decades since I’ve seen any of those!

Here we have such a fine item. The subtly veined, prized marble (“Portoro,” or “gold vein”) is in excellent condition, with only a few very minor chips along the top rim, none of which break the visual flow of the circle. The marble element above the base is in perfect condition.

All the fittings are made of solid brass, whether painted or lacquered. This lamp even had its original cord when I bought it (now replaced)!

What’s really unusual about this lamp is that the three sockets have pull-chain switches. These are rare as can be! I’d advise refraining from using them (except when showing them off), as they’re already over 100 years old and though “made to last,” they’re practically impossible to replace. The simple solution? A foot-operated floor lamp switch, available at most hardware stores or easily found online.

You’ll probably want to poke around and eventually find a good mica shade to go on this lamp, at which point you’ll have a museum-worthy light. The bulbs shown in the lamp aren’t included in the sale.
