There … more Untitled ii' abstract composition, mixed media on soft board, japanese ink, oil, pencil and gouache by erez yardeni (2018). There is so much energy in this artwork that the image leaps from its frame. Vertical movement is animated by vibrant colour and dark lines provide the framework which binds the pieces into a coherent whole. Absolutely stunning. This piece has been newly framed and glazed. It is signed on the reverse of the painting. Please view the many images accompanying the listingabout the artist : erez yardeni (born 1964) is an accomplished polymath who spent his formative years in west africa where he was initiated into one of the local tribes. Yardeni studied art history at the sotheby's institute and holds an ma in fine art from the istituto per l'arte e il restauro in florence, italy as well. Underlining his virtuosity, the artist holds medical credentials from the asante academy of chinese medicine, middlesex university and from the chinese medical institute, beijing university of chinese medicine and pharmacology. Concurrent with his life as an artist, yardeni holds a vibrant practice in chinese medicine treating patients in his voluminous art studio in bangkok, thailand. A statement from the artist follows: "in my life i have done many things: martial arts, medicine, academia, monkhood. Art has always been there; both changing and unchanging. My work is i think, natural, child-like mostly spontaneous; sometimes painful sometimes playful. I use a lot of japanese inks - not very familiar but it suits me in their colour and varied hardness. I also use oil - i love the smell. I use raw canvas because it gives a context, paper lightness and board presence. I very much enjoy seeing the way pots come back from the firing - surprising - much like fresco. People sometimes see animals and faces and buildings and other people and stories in my work - i don't put them there consciously most of the time but sometimes i can see them too. Sometimes i title the work when i see something like that." dimensions with frame : h 31.0 cm / 12.2" w 40.5 cm / 15.9" dimensions without frame : h 19.0 cm / 7.5" w 29.0 cm / 11.4" less
