Born in New York, 1929 Gloria Haberman.
Offered for sale is a figurative abstract painting on canvas by the American artist Gloria Kates (1929-unknown). The painting was part of a prominent Palm Beach, FL. estate, we were fortunate to be able to acquire it and so can you.
Kates used great impasto texture techniques that create movement along with the use of strong hues. The painting is framed, wired and ready to hang.
This Gloria Kates figurative oil painting would enhance any setting, would look particularly striking in a modern or contemporary setting.
More about the Artist:
Gloria Kates studied classical piano at the Juilliard School of Music, 1935-40, and the Manhattan School of Music, 1940-46. She also studied music theory in 1942-46.
She was an art teacher at the Barns Art Center (now the Rutgers University in Moorestown, New Jersey, 1964-68. One of the students in her class was,
Todd Siler, who today is an internationally recognized artist having exhibited his work in the Museum of Modern Art in Paris, France, in major galleries and museums in Japan, Canada and Western Europe. He is represented by the Ronald Feldman Gallery in New York City.
Kates was also an art teacher for Enrichment Program for Public Schools in Moorestown, N.J., 1964-67.
Kates developed classes in the visual arts on a private farm associated with the Head Start Program for underprivileged children. She moved to Israel and worked in Studio Arts, Kibbutz Ashdod Yakov in the Emek Hayarden, Israel during 1969-71.
Gloria Kates moved to Montreal in 1975 and continued painting and graphic arts at La Guild Graphique.
