I painted this plein air (on location) at Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland, CA. My late husband, Michael, was with me and he did a little painting, too.
The last image is of the beginning of my painting, after I had my basic composition down.
A lot of famous people are buried there. It's truly one of the most beautiful cemeteries and it's nice to see so many people enjoying it. While we were there, people were strolling through the grounds, hiking the many hills, biking all over the place, picnicking on the grass and just hanging out and talking or meditating. Both sides of my grandparents are buried there along with some other family members on my dad's side. less
