Excellent vintage condition for a lamp from the late 1800s to early 1900s. Minor imperfections consistent with age. The two light bulb sockets have been replaced because the chains were not working in the old ones, see photo. Glass is excellent condition with a few fine cracks, see photos.

My father had his own television show in Pittsburgh PA many years ago called " Pittsylvania Antiques" and he also published a few books on antiques. Personally he collected art glass and he purchased this lamp along with two signed Tiffany lamps. He liked this one the best. The colors are beautiful, make sure you look at all the photos to see it lit up. Lit it is nothing short of spectacular. It's quite heavy and beautifully made. It was made in the late 1800s to early 1900s by a company called Amboy.Works. Sibley & Pitman and Amboy Works were affiliated with one another, both in terms of ownership and providing the shades to Reed & Barton. However, in addition, S&P invested in Amboy Works to produce their own line of leaded lamps. It is probable that Amboy Works simply became the lamp manufacturing arm of Sibley & Pitman. Not only is the craftsmanship and artistry superior on these gorgeous lamps but they are expected to increase in value so this lamp is a good investment as well as being a beautiful addition to your home. This lamp is now shown on a website dedicated to leaded lamps, you can see it on leadedlamps dot com under the Amboy gallery along with other examples of this beautiful maker. less
