This is what is known as a chimney cap or chimney pot . It is used at the top of the chimney for architectural detail and design this used to keep the embers low . This amazing piece was salvaged along with five others . I'm not sure if it's true age or origin but I am led to believe that is possibly European and is what is known as the king Arthur chess set and this is the king ! He reminds me of the chess pieces in Alice in wonderland . The others that were salvaged are terra-cotta crowns and they surrounded him up on the rooftop . Simply amazing. This is the first time we have ever been salvaged a chimney pot like this. I believe he was custom to the home made upon the clients request . He measures 57 inches tall by 16 wide i'm not sure of the metal used possibly tin . He appears to be an overall good condition I did notice a few small dents at the top and one on the side but nothing major I did not notice any breaks or repairs . This auction is for one king chimney top
