Vintage 1970s Murano hand-blown geometric faceted shaped deep purple and gold "Sommerso.” This beautiful faceted glass vase designed by Mandruzzato, Murano, Italy. Original sticker still attached.
A sophisticated take with a symbiotic coloration combination of purple/amethyst and yellow amber with a clear outer casing, and polished pontil base bottom.
Ingenuously interior color combinations, along with the polished and faceted sides, create a beautiful allusion, beyond the fact that at every slight turn or adjustment of the vantage point of such pieces, the Murano inflection points, change in perception, with the color definition. Beautiful at any angle.
In excellent condition, very well maintained. No chips, or flea bites that I can feel/see. It is vintage and may have normal wear.
Approx dimensions: 6.25" H; 1.5” rim/base; 3.25” at its widest; 1.6 lbs wt, prior to very careful packaging. Great addition for the serious art glass collector.
Mandruzzato was founded in 1934 on the island of Murano, Venice, Italy, by Benjamin Mandruzzato. After Benjamin died in 1954, the factory was run by his son Luigi Mandruzzato. In 1965 Luigi was joined by his son, Gianfranco Mandruzzato, who took over the running of the company two years later. less
