There is a saying that we are all familiar with... "They don't make things like they used to." Well, I'd like to disagree! At least when it comes to the craftsmanship of Colonial Williamsburg Restoration, to be specific: Virginia Metal Crafters, and Blenko Glass Works. Their reproduction pieces rival original colonial craftsmanship. Offered are a pair of extraordinary hand-turned solid brass candlesticks with forged iron prickets accompanied by statement making extra large blown glass hurricanes.
Each solid brass candlestick measures 7.5" high (brass base) with additional 2.25" pricket for a total heigh of 9.75" x 4" base diameter. The Colonial Williamsburg Restoration and Virginia Metal Crafters maker's marks are evident on each candlestick. Both have are in wonderfully patinaed condition with some tarnish and evidence of a life well lived, but could easily be polished for a newer aesthetic. (See photos)
The vintage hurricanes are an imposing 20" high x 9" at their midsection and 6.75" at the top and base. Made of a heavy, thick glass, they are in impeccable condition with no chips or cracks, there are only scattered air bubbles which tell the tale of being craftsman created and authentic. There are no maker's marks to be found on the hurricanes. However, they are believed to be the accompanying originals to the candlesticks; created in the Blenko glass works in West Virginia for Colonial Williamsburg Restoration.
So... sometimes they do make things like they used to! Once sold only by authorized dealers and now highly coveted. These incredible brass candlesticks and hurricanes will never go out of style and are ready to be the focal point of your space. (Candles not included) less
