A pair of large French art deco wall sconces. Made around 1930 in nickel plated solid brass … more VERRERIES DES HANOTS
A pair of large French art deco wall sconces. Made around 1930 in nickel plated solid brass or bronze. They hold beautiful large panels in clear frosted molded-pressed glass. The shades were acid frosted and then polished by hand to create glossy highlights. They are signed 'Hanots' on the rim. Like Verlys Hanots was one of the brands of the large Holophane glass factories during the interbellum. Verlys was used for their production of vases and tableware. The shades for lighting were issued under the brand Verreries des Hanots.
The wall lights are 39,6 cm high (15,6") and 21,2 cm (8,35") wide. They project 9,4 cm (3,7") from the wall. They are in very good condition. One chip on the rim at the lower right corner of one shade which is hidden by the metal mount. I have re-nickeled and patinated the mountings. The wall lamps are rewired with American candelabra base sockets.
