A 19th century or older, hand carved Buddha head or Buddha head statue, as they are known, in shades of dark brown, with a few tiny specks of original gilding.
The Buddha heads usually have half-closed eyes which show a state of meditation.
The elongated earlobes represent the Buddha's hearing power. Others say the elongated earlobes may be due to his life as a prince, when he wore heavy earrings.
The Buddha's hair is usually depicted in the form of "snail-shell" curls.
This Asian head statue is an excellent and very old symbol of wisdom and knowledge.
