Gold anodized aluminum alloy bowl in the shape of a sea grape leaf. Designed by well known sculptor Oskar Hansen for Virginia Metalcrafters. The leaf is hand made and hand finished, and life-like. Marked 3513 on the back. Still has its shiny gold finish. Perfect for your collection. Very good condition. Dealer MJS.

*Virginia Metalcrafters was a company that produced a variety of metal-based home goods and accessories in Waynesboro, Virginia, in the early to mid-20th century. Their products were known for their elegant designs and high quality. The company was founded in 1890 as the Waynesboro Stove Company. It began producing brass and iron products in 1938, under the name Virginia Metalcrafters. The company's products were popular with both commercial and residential customers. Virginia Metalcrafters went out of business in 2006. However, their products are still highly sought-after by collectors and interior designers.
*Oskar Johan Waldemar Hansen was born in Langenes in Øksnes, Nordland, Norway, on March 30, 1892. He studied at the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo from 1910 to 1915. After graduating, he moved to the United States and settled in Charlottesville, Virginia. Hansen's work was known for its simple, elegant designs and its use of natural materials. He was influenced by the Art Deco and Art Nouveau movements, and his work often featured organic shapes and motifs. Hansen continued to work as a designer for Virginia Metalcrafters until his death in 1962. His work is still highly sought-after by collectors and interior designers today. less
