Incredibly detailed design with extensive depth of field; in the foreground, a blossom-filled urn perched on a stylized windowsill, followed by a tree-encircled water scene in the mid-ground, and a mill and church in the background. A semi-circular fruit and floral border rims the lower edge of the piece while a bird soars above. So much visual interest in these lovely plates.

Backstamp of Burgess & Leigh - Hill Pottery, an English pottery concern founded in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent in 1862 with the beehive mark making its initial appearance at that time. Hill Pottery opened in 1867 and its mark was used up until 1889 when the firm moved and changed its mark. The registration # 56790 and pattern name "Rustic" were entered into the British system in 1886, narrowing the fabrication date to between 1886 & 1889.

Very good 137+ year condition; no chips, no cracks, very minor crazing; some toning and stains (particularly on the back (unseen) side) but nothing that detracts from appearance.
