This " Paul Klee and The Bauhaus " rare vintage 1973 first edition lithograph print hardcover Mid Century Modernist art book is an incredibly special and unique book to add to your library collection.
The hardcover art book with chocolate brown linen covered boards, embossed spine titles, and dust jacket is published by New York Graphic Society Ltd. Greenwich, Connecticut. Printed in Switzerland in 1973. It features a monograph survey of the artworks of the artist Paul Klee, with compelling accompanied text by author Christian Geelhaar, book designed by Andre Rosselet, Editions Ides et Calendes.

Paul Klee ( 1879 - 1940 ) The Swiss born Modernist artist is attributed to creating some of the most original and colorful paintings of The Twentieth Century. Klee was an educator at the famous Bauhaus School in Germany. His work reflects the ideas of Symbolism, Expressionism, Cubism, as well the simplicity of The Bauhaus designs. Artworks by Klee are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
Klee's appointment to The Bauhaus faculty in 1921 marked a turning point in his career. This focus lead to specific formulations of his art theory, and to a new direction in his art, which became more objective and Abstract.
For this book, the first detailed study of Klee's work of The Bauhaus Period ( 1921 - 1931 ), author Geelhaar has had access to previously unpublished theoretical writings by the artist. He explores the development of Klee's art theory and its application to his will yo pure form. The superbly illustrated volume adds in depth understanding of Klee's thinking and his work, and demonstrates the complexities of this fundamentally important artist who appeals on so many levels.
The rare out of print 1st edition Modernist art book measures 10" W X 10 1/2" H X 1 1/8" D, with 174 pages. It features 132 illustrations, including 24 color lithograph print hand tipped plates.
