The hardcover art book with mustard yellow linen covered boards, embossed cover and spine titles, and dust jacket is published by Harry N. Abrams Inc. publishers New York, printed in Japan in 1990. It features an expansive monograph survey collection of the artworks of the artist Robert Rauschenberg, with compelling accompanied text by author Mary Lynn Kotz.
Robert Rauschenberg ( 1925 - 2008 ) The American born artist of a Jewish background is recognized as one of The 20th Century's most influential and prolific artists. He is credited with binding the gap between the movements of Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art. A pioneer of the " Transfer Drawing " process, he experimented with technologically sophisticated combinations of photographs and drawings. He is highly regarded as a Modern Master of mixed media and collage. The works are layered and transcend the two dimensional format for the viewer. Art works by Rauschenberg are included in the collection of more than 70 of the world's most prestigious museums.
This special volume travels across the odyssey that is Rauschenberg's life. It presents the astonishing dexterity and range of his work. There seems to be no artistic medium or form that has escaped Rauschenberg's grasp.
