This Wall Street Deal Tombstone commemorates the successful issuance of $709,208,000 by "TSASC" of Tobacco Flexible Amortization Bonds (series 1991-1). TSASC is a local New York Development Corporation whose debt is secured by tobacco Legal Settlement revenue. TSASC stands for "Tobacco Settlement Asset Securitization Corporation".After the landmark 1990s settlement by the tobacco industry in a suit brought by several states, TSASC took the promise of those revenues and securitized them so that the present value of those funds could be immediately deployed by a local development company for the benefit of "the People".. It was 1990s Wall Street magic pulled off by some of the masters of the day.Salomon Smith Barney was the Manager of the deal, while J.P. Morgan & Co. and Bear Stearns & CO were the Co-Managers.
This "Deal Toy" is one a a very few given to the individuals who worked the transaction. It is five (5) pounds of leaded crystal, measuring 6" x 6" x 2.5" The center is engraved TSASC, while the four sides are each engraved with the title of the transaction, the name of the Senior Manager, or the co Managers. There is one cigar (cigarette) well on each side of the vessel, which is in excellent condition.
This item is a unique opportunity to have an historic memento of Wall Street in the 1990s in your personal space. It is especially charming because all of the entities have experienced some change. Bear Stearns, and Salomon, Smith Barney no longer exist, and JP Morgan is now better known as J.P. Morgan Chase. Meanwhile, TSASC remains a vital part of New York City's financial operation.
