this is just a great original piece. I have had a few other arnold hoffman prints in my collection over the years including one that hung in my house for many years. His work is really outstanding and the 2 that I am offering this week are 2 of my favorites. For those not familiar with the artist, I have included his biography below. This might be my favorite of all the works by the artist I have seen. A wonderful abstract rainbow print with the image measuring 21 1/2 x 26 1/2 on complete original sheet measuring 26 x 33 inches. Signed titled and numbered from an edition of 40 in pencil below the image. Outstanding original condition. The only issue at all is a very faint matte box from the original framing. Really a stunning original print.
For those not familiar with the artist her biography from Ask art and the New York Times reads website reads: "Arnold Hoffmann Jr., a painter, silkscreen artist and a former art director for The New York Times Magazine, died on Saturday at the Bellhaven Nursing Center in Bellport, L.I. He was 75 years old and lived in Springs, L.I. Mr. Hoffmann joined The Times as a layout artist in 1942 after working briefly for Dell Publishing. In his 30 years at the paper, he was an art director for the Sunday magazine and other special sections. He retired in 1972. Mr. Hoffmann studied at the Art Students League and the National Academy of the Arts. In addition to exhibiting his own paintings at galleries in New York and on Long Island, he founded a silk-screen-print workshop in Springs, where he worked with such artists as James Brooks, Esteban Vicente and Robert Gwathmey and gave public lectures. less
