A pair of large French art deco wall lights. Made around 1930 in nickel plated solid brass or bronze. They hold beautiful large panels in frosted molded-pressed glass. The shades were acid frosted and then polished by hand to create glossy highlights. The shades are signed 'Verreries des Hanots France" on the rim. Hanots was like Verlys one of the brands of the large Holophane glass factories.
The sconces are 38,5 cm wide (15,16") and 24,5 cm (9,65") high. They project 16 cm (6,3") from the wall. They are in very good condition. Some chips on the backside of the shades. Normal for 100 years old glass and the chips are on the inside only and do not distract at all. I have re-nickeled and patinated the mounts. The wall lamps are rewired with American candelabra base sockets.
