- This marvelous antique serving spoon is created with a gorgeous brass bowl that is engraved in a floral motif and … more This marvelous antique serving spoon is created with a gorgeous brass bowl that is engraved in a floral motif and pierced with an intricate design. The beautiful silver plated handle in an unidentified pattern has a whimsical Fauna face on the top bead of the handle and there are fabulous floral swags and curlicues on the entire handle. Based on Roman mythology, Fauna was the goddess of fertility of the woodlands, fields and flocks. Based on the intricate design and motif, this exquisite serving piece was likely made between 1880-1910. There are no hallmarks or any mark to determine metal content or maker. Measurements for this fabulous creation are: Length from top to bottom=8-3/4 inches, Width of bowl at widest=3 inches, Depth of bowl=5/8 inches. This marvelous large serving spoon has been well cared for, gently used and is in excellent antique condition, free from chips, cracks or other imperfections.
