"Applique"- a sewing technique in which fabric patches are layered on a foundation fabric and then stitched in place by hand with the raw edges turned with decorative stitching.
This 19th-century textile is one of Gujarat's finest crafts. In this antique textile patches of fabrics in various colors and patterns are placed together to create a multi-coloured fabric much like a jigsaw puzzle.
