Signed Antique oil on canvas painting by Italian artist Giuseppe Pitto, 1857-1928. Main subject is a lady with basket strolling through street market. Nice strong colors and details.
Giuseppe Pitto (1857 - 1928) was an Italian painter. He was noted for his paintings depicting beautiful women in traditional Italian street markets. This beautiful example is beautifully painted and executed. The large and colorful painting, in the Realism style popular in the late 19h century, depicts a lovely and young olive-skinned and dark haired woman, She wears a white and red dress and carries a basket with vegetables. Behind her a busy street market can be seen, with hundreds of busy shoppers and vendors. The painting features warm colors with an impasto-style of painting. It is signed on the lower right "Pitto". The painting is framed in an beautiful gold tone wooden frame and is ready to be hung and enjoyed.
