Despite evidence of age-related cracks and losses, the work is a truly amazing piece of artwork, not to be overlooked. Saint Francis de Geronimo, also known as Frances di Girolamo, Hieronymo, or Francis Jerome, was a Jesuit priest and missionary canonized by Gregory XVI in 1839. He is credited with writing the hymn "Diu vi Salvi Regina," which was adopted as the national anthem of an independent Corsica in 1735. See less
