In 1887 the industrialist Victor Ducobu-Decaudin opened a pottery in the village of Thulin. After the death of Victor in 1897 his two children took over and renamed the company "Faïencerie de Thulin- A. Ducobu et Cie". It was directed by Victors son Arthur till his death in 1918 after which his sister Victoria Legay-Decobu ran the firm. When she died in 1923 the company continued under the name "la Société Anonyme des Faïenceries de Thulin".
The vase on offer, model 191, was created around 1925-1935. A nice drip glaze in tan and dark blue colors cover the beautiful art deco shape of the vase. Which was done in "barbotine": ceramic slip poured into a mold. Often Thulin vases are marked 'made in Belgium' with an added model number. Many stayed unsigned though. The vase is in excellent condition. It is 21,8 cm high and 13 cm wide.
