This wonderful example of craftsmanship simply assembles without any nails or screws, as each wooden piece sits in place and the subsequent pieces keep everything in place. It is likely elm wood, but we can't say for sure. Inside is a hanging cabinet with four drawers and three sets of cabinet doors that provide ample storage for small items. It is decorated with intricate carvings, delicate fretwork, and painted scenes on the inside panels and the front. On the front are seven reverse-painted glass panels, with two more inside on the hanging cabinet. It is lacquered in a red-brown color and is just as beautiful on the inside as the outside, with ornate carvings and paintings. The back is not finished. There are thin planks of wood on the floor of the bed. The bed disassembles very easily for storage and transport, into about 14 pieces, plus seven slats.
