The ashtray measures H … more Murano glass ashtray attributable to Archimedes Seguso from the 60s with geometric figures coloured on white. The ashtray measures H 5cm D 16cm. Archimede Seguso was born in Murano on December 17, 1909. At the age of 11 he began working in the furnace and refined his skill by making eighteenth-century glass. Just over twenty years old he becomes an excellent Master glassmaker, also distinguishing himself with the newly born processing of heavy artistic glass. 'He takes as designers in the family factory ''Seguso Vetri d'Arte'' first Vittorio Zecchin and then Flavio Poli.' Since the 1930s he has been invited to exhibit at the Venice Biennale, where, until 1972, there was the 'Venezia' Pavilion dedicated to Murano glass. Among his main works, created in the first decades of activity, we can remember the animals, for the beauty of which he is nicknamed “the Master of Animals”, the figure of the boxer “Primo Carnera” of 1934, the portrait of the future wife of 1937 and the thick “submerged bullies” or “golden nuts”, “corrosi” or “i Leaving the 'Seguso Vetri d'Arte', in 1946 Archimede founded the ' Vetreria Artistica Archimede Seguso', thus obtaining full creative independence. less
