They don’t do carvings like this anymore…A superbly hand sculpted figure made of hardwood, possibly rosewood, with very intricate details including a figure of the Chinese Shoulao or Shouzing, Daoist God of Longevity, a crane (sacred bird), a garnered staff with fruits. The figure and bird have glass eyes and the God has glass teeth. He is one of the three star Gods of Chinese beliefs. In excellent condition with one small 1”crack near the base. Has period wear and patina, consistent with age and use. No serious damage or repairs.
