A fine … more Gorgeous pair of French Gilt Bronze Sculptures of two young Lads going fishing. Most likely late 19th century. A fine presentation - brilliant, gilded surface patina. Each candlestick is raised on a circular Verde Antico marble and black slate base. Each young Lad is carrying a sheath of wheat. Incredible workmanship on each of the young boys. Simply fabulous!

They can also be used as fabulous bronze sculptures - no candles needed.

One boy holding tied fish in his hand with rolled up trousers & floppy fisherman's hat - fishing net thrown over his shoulder with right arm raised.

The other boy is holding a fishing knife & carrying a cross body canteen also with rolled up trousers & left arm raised. Seashells lay at the feet of both barefoot boys.

*At one point in France, these beautiful candlesticks had been made into lamps. We have removed the electrical elements and returned the candlesticks to their original glorious selves.

Rare find and collectible. Very typical of Louis Auguste Moreau (1855-1919) however we have yet to find a signature. less
