On the river one recognizes some sailboats, on both banks smaller houses line the river. In the background, a mountain range is depicted in delicate blueness. The scene is framed on the right edge of the picture by a large oak tree. Due to the slightly naive view of the scene and the depicted probably southern French landscape, the painting can be attributed to a landscape painter from the French province at the end of the 18th century.
