A jaw dropping large 57 1/2 Tall solid wood hand carved and hand painted mirror by Porte Italia. There is a brass tag and the company name carved on the back of the mirror. This was a custom mirror that we cannot find and it is not offered in their portfolio. They work with decorators on custom pieces. The mirror is done in cream and taupe faux fabric on a solid wood darker faux pole. Made to resemble a tasseled draped fabric. I have never seen anything so beautiful. It has two heavy metal hangers on the back. The finish can be used with some finish loss. The mirror has intentional mercury loss over the entire bevel mirror. This is gorgeous for any traditional or dramatic decor. Perfect for over a mantle. We believe this came from a Palm Beach hotel.
Porte Italia has a 30 year history as a family owned business in Venice. They focus on 18th C recreations using old world techniques and materials.
Condition: No breaks on the front surface. Painting looks good with some edge losses on the draping and pole and some general imperfections in the painted finish from use. There is a back chip not seen we believe was a knot in the wood. Intentional overall mercury loss on the bevel mirror to make the mirror look older,
