A large, colorful, life size painting, this artist captivates the feelings of the natural outdoors and resonates with naturalists and people who truly appreciate the great outdoors. Born on May 14, 1948, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Solley Caine grew up in multiple cities across several states. After her undergraduate art studies, she moved to New York City and earned her Master's in Fine Arts at the esteemed Pratt Institute in 1976. Her artistic talents flourished, and she continued to create a reputable collection of nature themed paintings, primarily using oil on canvas. Her travel and appreciation for U.S. National Parks inspired her to capture their beauty and grandeur in the large collective pieces and impactful installation art that she became known for. Solley Caine relocated her growing family to Northampton, Massachusetts, becoming part of a destination art community. Sadly, she passed away this past spring, which has since considerably increased interest in her work and her reputation as an artist. The western Massachusetts art scene where Solley Cane lived and found further inspiration, is one that is thriving in New England and has always garnered esteemed work from the great naturalists (painters, writers and poets) such as Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Emily Dickinson, Norman Rockwell, Umberto Romano etc., Now Solley Caine can also be remembered along with other great, inspiring and admired world artists that have collectively claimed the home state of Massachusetts as their own! less
