During this period, Louis XVIII was on the throne, and references to Napoleon's empire were abandoned in favor of a softer and more sinuous form. Here, a gentle s-curve column with lion's paw feet has replaced the rigid columnar style of the Empire period.

Constructed from French walnut, this commode features four spacious drawers including a top drawer "hidden" in the plinth. The three lower drawers feature original beautifully crafted bronze handles. The middle drawer's pulls and escutcheon plate differ slightly from the others, in accordance with the style of the era. The escutcheon plates add a whimsical touch, with gorgeously detailed floral motifs. The commode is topped by a lovely piece of white Carrara marble that's original to the piece. less
