NOTES
This is typical of F W Watt's paintings. He was considered a good alternative to the more expensive John Constable in his day and was greatly sought after in the revival of 19th century British landscape art in the 1970's when this was last appraised. He did not as a rule sign and I wonder if that has something to do with clients wanting others to believe they had a Constable? [Conjecture on my part].
