Offered is a superb 19th century painting depicting the Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile. This is one of the earliest pieces on record depicting this French national monument from the pointillist style, post-impressionism and making it a very desirable and historic work of ar,t created in the same period Renoir and Seurat were experimenting with this new artistic approach!

The pointillists believed pure color applied in the form of dots allowed the mind to blend them and create a more pure blend than any artist could depict. Here the people bustling through the city are all different colors and the mind's eye blends them to create a rainbow of hue. The trees and buildings are also dabs of pure color and the artist lets the viewer's mind merge them.

The art is light and bright in the best pointillist manner and the hand carved wood frame of this period is itself a work of art! Finding a pointillist, post-impressionist work from this period outside a museum is now exceptionally rare.
