The scored lines make for an improvised board for the popular game, which was played throughout the United Kingdom. This sturdy table is made from gorgeous figured elm, a wonderful wood that is prized for strength and distinct wood grain patterns. Honest age has smoothed the uneven wood surface to a buttery finish. Notably, the center of the table is worn from the shuffling motions of the game. Table has simple, boxy construction, built with wood nails and has stretchers at the base for added support.
